How to Volunteer for the Poor
Volunteering is an excellent way to:
- Be able to make a difference by helping others
- Learn more about different communities in your country
- Work and meet outstanding people
ArabDev seeks people with computer experience to participate as volunteer "mentors" in short-term, clearly-defined development projects with Egyptian non-governmental organizations (NGOs). We will work with you to identify projects that match your preferences, skills and schedule.
Here are a few examples of how you can make a difference by being a mentor:
- Coach a staff NGO person through a software use or upgrade
- Train school teachers to use hardware, software, and Internet tools
- Set up the Internet connection for a community computer lab's
- Help to create a Web site or add on to an existing site
- Set up a small network of computers for an after-school center
- Provide advice regarding new computer hardware and software purchases for NGOs
To volunteer, please contact us at email: support@arabdev.net or by telephone (202) 304 6032/33/34.
